My 1st Kroger Experience (Plus BiLo & Publix Deals)
I went to Kroger for the 1st time today! This Kroger doubles an unlimited # of coupons up to .50 and they accept IP (Internet Printed) coupons. They had some great sales so I picked up quite a few good deals today!
Kroger:

Not too shabby for my 1st trip. I was super psyched about the chicken deal. Normally we purchase a 6.5lb bag from Sam’s for almost $15! (That’s about $2.30/lb). Today we got almost 9lbs for about $1/lb…really good deal!!
These sales are good through Saturday!

-$5/40 CVS coupon (Publix considers them a competitor.)
Total including tax: $30.69; Total savings: $43.37
*This actually should have been about $8 less but apparently it was not my day to buy Johnsonville Sausage. I had a $5/4 coupon that went missing…I couldn’t find it anywhere when checking out. (Of course it had to be the $5 coupon!!!) And none of them were on sale like I thought they were…oh well. But if I hadn’t purchased them I wouldn’t have been able to use the $5/$40 CVS q.
I guess it evened out and I’m sending in for $5 rebate on the sausage as well. Not such a bad deal after all I suppose.
BiLo:
(2)Martha White Corn Bread Mix 1.18 -.55/2 q doubled =.08
(1)Chex Mix 2.50 -1.25 B1G1 sale -.50/1 q doubled =.25
(2)Hormel Chili 2.50 -.50/2q doubled =1.50
(1)Hamburger Buns 1.25
(1)Ground Beef 5lbs 19.67 -9.86sale =9.81
Total including tax: $13.08; Total savings: $14.31
*Again we usually get our ground beef from Sams and pay about $13-15 for 5lbs. Which is almost $3/lb. We got it on sale for $1.99/lb.
Things I learned from this trip:
1. Put coupons in an envelope to help not losing them!
2. Publix considers Drug Stores competitors so I can use those q’s there! Woo-Hoo!! However they do not consider Family Dollar a competitor. I had a $5/$25 q from a Family Dollar ad I received in the mail, but it was a no go. (You never know unless you ask - I have heard some stores will accept those…each manager is different.)
3. I am not renewing my Sams membership! The only things we purchase from Sams are: Nacho cheese, Chicken, Beef, Teriaki Sauce, Charcoal and fresh baked hoagie rolls.
I can make my own Nacho cheese dip. I can find the chicken and beef cheaper when it’s on sale..just gotta stock up..again thank goodness for a deep freeze. I can purchase the charcoal from WalMart for a comparable price. If I’m that desperate for Teriaki Sauce and Hoagie rolls I know enough people with memberships to just pick it up for me! So that will save $45 a year plus gas since Sams is not conveniently located near us…then again nothing is!
Other notes: I am trying to stay within a $50/week grocery budget. This was my 1st week trying that and I went $6.26 over. I actually don’t think that was too bad considering I purchased chicken and beef…we were completely out of both so I had no choice. And I will probably not be doing any grocery shopping for the next week or 2 since I’ll be out of town. So I will be under budget next week…hopefully!
